Project Overview:
The Nasrabad Project represents the first national initiative to develop underground natural gas storage infrastructure within salt caverns in Iran. The project aims to enhance the stability, flexibility, and reliability of the national gas transmission network during periods of peak demand.
Implemented under an EPCD (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Drilling) contract by Mahan Sanat Arya (MSA), the project encompasses the detailed engineering design, procurement of materials and equipment, and drilling of leaching wells for the creation of underground gas storage caverns.
Scope of Work:
• Drilling of three new leaching wells to form underground gas storage caverns
• Rehabilitation and completion of an existing well for installation of leaching strings
• Construction of drilling pads and access roads as part of the project’s surface infrastructure
• Implementation of comprehensive Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) systems and Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems (HSE-MS) in line with international best practices

The Nasrabad Project stands as a landmark achievement in the advancement of solution mining technology, geomechanical design, and engineering of underground gas storage caverns in Iran.
